The Hissy Kits have recorded four studio albums and are busily working on their fifth (a special yowliday album). Two of their albums are available for digital download on Bandcamp.com. Their first album, Just Add Meows,  is a limited edition vinyl record. It  is unique in that it has theremin on every track. It is only sold at their live shows. This album has no meows - it was recorded before the public demanded meows on every track, therefore, you, the listener, may add your own as you meow along to this instrumental album.

To celebrate America's 250th birthday, we recorded a collection of American songs: patriotic songs, Broadway tunes, jazz standards, and songs from the Great American Songbook.

The lyrics of "My Country, 'Tis of Thee" were written in 1831, when there were only 24 states in the Union. "I'm a Yankee Doodle Dandy" and "You're a Grand Old Flag" were published before Arizona, New Mexico, Alaska, and Hawaii became states, yet these songs are still being sung today.

From blues and jazz to Broadway and barbershop harmonies, these songs reflect some of the melodies, stories, and traditions that have shaped American music over the last two and a half centuries.

By no means is this a comprehensive album of American music. The United States of America has a vast amount of musical genres. But we had to start somewhere so we chose the building blocks from which other genres eventually were born, like country, swing, be-bob, hip-hop, rap, rock, and so many more.

Perhaps America's finest tradition is turning improbable ideas into realities and persevering against the odds. For that reason, we have chosen to present what may be the most astonishing performance on this recording: our rendition of "The Star-Spangled Banner" featuring the theremin, an instrument played without physical touch.

The theremin is often described as one of the most difficult instruments in the world to master. It creates sound through an invisible energy field surrounding the instrument. Because that field is constantly changing, the performer must continually adapt and adjust.

Like the theremin, a country does not have to be perfect to be valued and loved. It requires continual effort, adjustment, and participation.
